Version 0.3.8 released
Command & Conquer for Atari ST » Devlog

Release 0.3.8 is out, fixing a bug that prevented the GDI campaign from being finishable on 4 MB machines. It also brings nicer colors and dithering in winter theater, faster animations on transition screens and a small increase in game performance, especially on Falcon.
What's fixed?
- Out-of-memory in GDI campaign. Finishing GDI mission 7 and entering the winter theater for the first time no longer runs out of memory. The GDI campaign can now be finished on 4 MB hardware.
- Map select. The map selection screen no longer displays bad colors after the second-to-final missions.
What's improved?
- Winter colors. Winter missions use an optimized 16-color palette.
- Map effects. Palette effects on the map selection screen work better now.
- Fonts. Text on the transition screens (side selection, score presentation, map selection) is easier to read.
- Animations. Transition scenes convert only the pixels that changed, so those animations run a little faster. Very noticeable on low-end STs.
- Blitter. Found a bug that caused the Blitter to be started with a redundant zero-line blit. Falcon profits most from the fix — benchmark is about 7% faster there.
- Redraw. Small optimizations in the redraw path. Benchmark is about 1–2% faster on the 8 MHz STe.
How to play?
Download the new release zip. Assets have changed, so running the web-based remix tool is strongly recommended. Saved-game format did not change.
Don't hesitate to report any problems, benchmark results or war-time stories.
Have fun! — Jonas
